Yves Derains will give a lecture on the topic of “Mandatory rules and international arbitrators, in the light of Article 1.4 of the UNIDROIT Principles” during the 3rd Annual International Arbitration Lecture that will be held in Rome under the aegis of the Roma TRE University and UNIDROIT from 26 to 30 September 2016.

Hamid Gharavi will speak at the Convention/s conference: “Tiers payeurs finances : financiarisation ou accès à la justice ?” that will take place in Paris on 1 July 2016.

Hamid Gharavi will speak at the GAR Live Istanbul during the session “Meet the ISTAC rules and the year in review” on 24 June 2016, in Istanbul.

Yves Derains will speak on “Prueba en el arbitraje” during the Latino-American Arbitration Symposium dedicated to “50 anos del Convenio del Ciadi – Consolidación del Arbitraje Comercial” that will take place in Lima on 27, 28 and 29 April 2016.

Yves Derains will chair the ICC Institute Masterclass for Arbitrators: “Overview of fundamentals and best practices related to serving as an arbitrator” and speak about the “Relations between arbitrators”, the “Role of the Chairman” and the “scrutiny of awards by the ICC International Court of Arbitration”. The event, organised by the ICC Institute of World Business Law, will take place in New York on 22, 23 and 24 February 2016.

Hamid Gharavi will speak during the roundtable “Time for an appellate/permanent system for investment disputes?” organised by the Scottich Centre for International Law (SCIL) of the Law School of the University of Edinburgh, on 13 November 2015 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Yves Derains will speak during the ICC Institute Advanced Level Training on Production of Documents that will take place during the 13th Annual ICC Miami Conference on International Arbitration in Miami on 1 November 2015.

Yves Derains will speak on “Onerosidade excessive, caso fortuito ou força maior. O dever de mitigar danos” during the Second Pan-American Arbitration Congress organised by the CAM-CCBC in São Paulo on 26 and 27 October 2015.

Derains & Gharavi will organize together with Conventions a conference on “La réforme du système de nomination des arbitres au CIRDI” in Paris on 13 October 2015. Yves Derains and Hamid Gharavi will speak at this conference.

Yves Derains has been appointed as vice-president of the Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM-CCBC).
