Onur is an associate at Derains & Gharavi, specializing in international arbitration. He has acted for States, State-owned entities, and companies in both commercial and investment arbitrations, including ad hoc proceedings under UNCITRAL Rules and institutional arbitrations under the ICSID, ICC and HKIAC rules, with a particular focus on the energy, construction, and finance sectors.

Prior to joining Derains & Gharavi, Onur was a lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, focusing on the right to a fair trial in civil court proceedings and sports arbitration proceedings as well as the right to property. Onur also worked at a law firm in Istanbul, where he advised local and international companies and lenders on the construction, development and financing of energy and infrastructure projects.

Admitted to the Istanbul and Paris Bars, Onur is also a qualified solicitor in England & Wales. He holds a Master’s in Economics and Finance from Bogazici University in Istanbul and an LLB from Galatasaray University in Istanbul.
