Mock Arbitrations

Success stories in all disciplines have in common preparation.

As the Great Muhammad Ali put it: “The fight is won or lost far away from the witnesses, behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road; long before I dance under those lights.”

The same applies to arbitration.

Hence why Derains & Gharavi offers to organize mock arbitrations, which are increasingly used and commonly accepted as a cost-effective mean of preparing for hearings. It affords parties and their counsel an opportunity to test the strength of their case and the persuasiveness of their arguments / the weight of their evidence.

Both founding partners are amongst the world’s leading arbitrators and have sat with all other prominent arbitrators. They have acted as President, Sole Arbitrator and Arbitrator in over 600 arbitrations in all industry sectors and in all type of ad-hoc and institutional arbitrations in different languages, in all type of cultural and geopolitical context worldwide.

The mock arbitrations are held before the firm’s founding partners acting as mock arbitrators (and if required as counsel), Yves Derains and/or Hamid Gharavi, but also if necessary one or more other leading arbitrators within or outside the firm selected depending on the specifics of each case, under strict confidentiality, with tailor-made adjustments made well ahead of the mock hearing, with an emphasis on the requested focus areas (admissibility, jurisdiction, merits, causation and quantum), followed potentially by oral or written feedback as necessary.
